EARTHCOMBER: Cell Phone Beta Release

Earthcomber for cell phones —
*BETA TRIAL*

What's a Beta Trial? It's a public test drive, basically. We need feedback, and invite you to play with it and complain, suggest, give us your take on what works, what doesn't, what you wish for in the Real Thing.

What you need to participate:

A relatively recent cell phone that has a web browser

If you want to be technical: J2ME capable, MIDP 2.0 and CLDC 1.1 specifications.

NOTE: Earthcomber won't run on Verizon cell phones that use the Brew operating system, unless they are adapted to run Java games and applications. Ask Verizon about yours.

A data plan with your carrier
Sure, Earthcomber is FREE — but downloading and using it could cost you. Check your cell plan. Typically, at 1-cent per KB, the program would cost around $1.50 to download, and map views would run from 3 to 8 cents. Got an unlimited plan? Awesome.

Patience
This is one of those rare life situations when complaining actually helps to make bad things go away and good things happen. So send any feedback you want. If you don't feel like communicating, that's cool, too. Whatever happens, remember: it's a trial.

Get it right on your phone:
Using your cell phone's web browser, go to:

beta.earthcomber.com/phone
A build file will be automatically recommended. Select that and your phone should proceed to install Earthcomber.

Your phone may ask where to install the app, but usually it doesn't. So where will you find Earthcomber after you install? Look in "Applications" or "Games".

Get it RIGHT NOW through your PC browser:
Click the link below:

beta.earthcomber.com/phone
Pick BOTH the .jar and .jad files that best suit your phone. Generic, usually.

Then just connect the cable between your phone and computer, and follow the instructions that came with your phone for installing programs.
