» Cannot Find GPS

Hi I have a sprint touch screen cell phone Audiovox 6600 with a Holux M1000 bluetooth wireless GPS reciever. The phone has found the bluetooth GPS reciever just fine, it assigns the GPS COM 6 BAUD: 38000, and shows how many satillites are in my area. But when I open earthcomber it cannot find the GPS device in any com and BAUD, it keeps searching. I have even tried manually setting the port directly from a previous post but no dice. Can anyone help me?

Make sure nothing is using the GPS device.

Unfortunately, Windows Mobile is very bad about sharing GPS devices amongst programs. If you've used the GPS applet to connect to your device, make sure that you have completely exited from that before you try Earthcomber. I've had no luck using the GPS control panel applet to share the GPS device either. So, my advice is to let Earthcomber have exclusive access to the GPS device and not let any other program use or manage your GPS device.

i have the same problem with

i have the same problem with another phone a Treo700wx with a generic SirfStar III gps. the phone has no problem finding the gps with a couple different programs but earthcomber never finds it. i can go into setting and tell the phone to setup gps as com5 @ 115200. route66 finds it but not earthcomber. o and i rebooted to be sure nothing else was using it first. any ideas?
