what errors do you get? I had to run the installation as administrator.

my problem is more related to the Sync'ing my device itself with Vista.

Vista Installation

Thanks for your comment, it does seem like being the administrator will allow the installation of the Earthcomber Updater. However, you can also do the following:
1) Download java from http://www.java.com and install it.
2) Download the Java Archive of Desktop Application, the Earthcomber
Updater, from here:
http://www.earthcomber.com/download/tray/winjar/EarthcomberUpdater.jar
Save it to your desktop. When it finishes downloading, you should be
able to just double-click on the "EarthcomberUpdater.jar" file.
