» San Diego County - loads, but doesn't show up
PalmOS Client

I just downloaded San Diego, Orange and Sacramento county using the updater. The log is showing all three syncing, but out of the three, only Orange and Sacramento are showing up. When I search for a city in San Diego county it says that it needs to download. What can I do? Thank you!!

Confirm The Map Is On The Device

Let's see if the map file is on the device. First, for each county there are actually two files, a map file and a location file. Let's see if one or both (or none) are on your device.

First, go to the Main Screen by tapping the Earthcomber Kiwi icon in the top left corner. At the bottom of the Main Screen, tap "Controls" on the next screen, tap File Management. Now, scroll through that list and see if you have both the "Map" and "Data" for San Diego.

My best guess is that you DO have the data, but not the map. The San Diego map is 7.6MB. So you should have at least 8.6MB free on your device to get it on there.

If you don't have enough space, but you want all 3 maps, then check out this answer in our FAQ that explains how to get the Earthcomber Updater to install files to an SD Card.

You're right. I have the Data

You're right. I have the Data, but not the map. However, there is enough space (almost a gig) left on my card. Seeing as how the updater didn't upload it the three times I tried it, is there another way of me getting the info onto my treo?

Thanks!! ~Mary

Updater Doesn't Use The Card Unless You Tell It To

Mary,
If you haven't told the Updater to put files on an SD Card, it won't. So, you would need to have 8.6MB free on your device, or have the Updater put the map on your SD Card following these instructions. Try this method, and let me know how it goes. Most importantly, let me know if you are given the option of "To Card" on the "File Selection" screen.

Finally, to just download the files manually, you have many options. If you have internet access on your device, then Earthcomber itself can get you the map. Tap, "Set My Location" then "City or Landmark". As you drill down, Earthcomber will let you download the map you need. The remaining options for downloading manually can be found in this FAQ answer.

Sincerely,
