» Earthcomber will not install on Windows

I am trying to install the Windows client for Earthcomber, and it errors out with,

"Your Earthcomber Download utility is currently running. Please right click on it and select exit before running this installer."

I am not running the "Earthcomber Download utility". I have never installed it before. I keep a pretty clean system. I have very few things in my systray. I have no idea what it thinks it see running on my system.

Does the current Windows Earthcomber installer have a problem install on Windows 2000 systems?

Has anyone else seen this problem, and know how to fix it?

A Link To Download The Downloader Directly

We apologize for this frustrating issue. The installer doesn't do much except create the icons and directories in which to place the program itself (and, of course, check to see if it's already running, with interesting results). So, you can solve this simply by downloading the EXE directly and running it. Here's a link:

Invalid setup file

I get about half way through the download to the device and it says cannot download to device because of an invalid setup file?Help!

A Different Issue

It sounds like you've successfully installed the Earthcomber Updater and are now attempting to do a "Get Updates" within Earthcomber Updater. If this is the case, you can try manually installing the Earthcomber client for you device following the directions in this FAQ answer:
