American History
Any monument, plaque, biographical place, facility, library, training camp, prisoner of war camp, factory, grave site that tells a story of World War II. Please feel welcome to add those you know, those you discover. A great project for students to map their local surroundings; a great way to contribute a personal memory. All periods of history are made of innumerable human experiences, and World War II profoundly swept virtually all Americans at that time into some level of involvement, even if it was simply to make a victory garden, or just suffer through rationing. This group will have some overlap with Silent Guns, a people's guide to all the places weaponry has gone to rest or to rust. (Pictured, The World War II Memorial, Washington, D.C., by Spc.
