Barlow Knoll
Gettysburg, Pa
Adams County
Latitude:39.845684,   Longitude: -77.226155

When Gen. Jubal Early's Confederates smashed Union defenders here at 3 p.m. on July 1, the Federal line north of Gettysburg collapsed. The victory came as the result of a terrible blunder by Brig Gen. Francis Barlow, who adavanced his XI corps beyond Union lines to the knoll, exposing his men to attacks from multiple sides. Barlow was wounded and captured in the attack.
